Building. Exploring. Strategizing.
In hindsight, all dots connect.
I recently relocated to San Francisco, after spending 6 years as an expat and entrepreneur (4 years in Paris, then two in Singapore). My professional journey began as a strategy consultant focused on data analytics at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C. Yearning for international experience, I moved to Paris (without speaking French) where I launched a business out of my apartment's tiny kitchen in the Marais that I grew to a #1 ranking on TripAdvisor and a staff of 15 people. After running the company as CEO for over two years, I have helped fast-growing tech companies (Uber & RingMD) grow their global footprint.
For me, every day is a balancing act between left- and right-minded endeavours.
I am just a comfortable as a product manager, leading a team to create a chatbot, negotiating strategic partnerships and finding my way in a complicated spreadsheet, as I am coming up with a creative marketing campaign or diving into a 12-day silent (as in, no speaking!) and digital-free meditation course in Australia.
As an ex-strategy consultant, I try to bring a holistic and detail-oriented approach to every problem. And as an entrepreneur and having worked in the tech and startup space in San Francisco, Singapore and Paris, I have the hustle and hands-on experience to understand when it’s time to let go of perfectionism, and not let great get in the way of good. And no matter what industry, I understand the importance of selling an experience, not just a product.
Favorite Books of 2017/8
The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz. Best summarized as “it’s lonely at the top”, “persevere and get smart” & “as a leader, if you don’t take ownership, nobody will.”
A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. Mind blower on raising consciousness and the importance of inward transformation to lead a meaningful and fulfilled life.
Insomniac City by Bill Hayes. His whimsical view of the world and allowing himself to focus in on the small, but beautiful, details of New York City and of his partner have reminded me to be more open with my heart, ears and eyes on a daily basis.
